8 Things You Don’t Need to Do to Lose Weight

When it comes to weight loss, you’ve probably received dozens of tips from family and friends. Among these tips are skipping breakfast, staying away from sugar, work out for hours, and so on. It’s no wonder why people can’t seem to make heads or tails of how to lose weight! Well, you’ve probably made a list of things that you need to do to make your weight go down, so here are eight things that you shouldn’t do when you want to lose weight.

1.Never count macros or even calories

There is nothing wrong about eating real food as long as you practice portion control. Also, there are differences between eating 600kcal of burger and 600kcal of raw almonds. Keep in mind that the structure of the foods that you are eating varies. One will give you a lot of vitamins while the other, nothing. Obsessing over calories and macros will only make you feel confused plus you are wasting time in the process too.

2.Eat several meals in a day

There is a belief that breaking down your meals into smaller ones will keep your weight down. Honestly, if you are not feeling hungry then don’t eat. It’s really as simple as that. On the other hand, if you are hungry, make more effort into choosing healthier food choices and you’ll be safe.

3.Go to the gym

Most people associate weight loss with working out in the gym, but there is more to exercising than simply lifting weights. Not everyone can actually afford to pay for a gym membership which doesn’t mean that exercise is going to be out of the equation. There are other ways for you to sweat those fats off such as going for a run, swimming laps, or biking. Even something simple as going up and down the stairs can help.

4.Doing the same workout

You’ve probably heard that repeating a workout routine will help you lose weight but you will find that your weight loss will hit a plateau. Try to mix up your routine and you will see a steady decline on your weight while toning muscles.

5.Supplements work

There is no miracle drug that will keep your weight down. As a matter of fact, those wonder pills that are being sold don’t do much. Yes, they can give you vitamins and minerals but they are not really useful in terms of weight loss.

6.Saying no to food

It’s great that you can say no to eating pizza, chocolates, popcorns, and other savory treats but sometimes, indulging in these foods can help keep your weight down. Just make sure that you know what the consequences are when you splurge too much.

7.Have one goal

If you are trying to lose weight, you shouldn’t just have a long term goal. A better option would be to have smaller, achievable goals which you can celebrate. Instead of saying that you are going to lose 50 pounds in 1 year, why not aim for 2 pounds every week or 5 pounds every 2 weeks? You’ll feel more excited to continue with your weight loss routine this way.

8.Wake up early to workout

If you’ve been getting up early just to workout for an hour and a half but are compromising the number of hours of sleep, then you are not doing yourself any good. A better option would be to spend 15 to 20 minutes of workout as long as you get your 7 to 8 hours of sleep.
