Why?

Caffeine stimulates the body’s colonic muscles, which in turn causes bowel movement contractions, that are very much similar to eating a meal. Although coffee can loosen your stool, other things may be to blame. Most especially the excess sugar, and sorbitol that you add into your coffee, which can also cause diarrhea.
Some individuals may not realized that they are lactose intolerant and assumed that it was the coffee and not the milk that was added, that gave them stomach trouble. Try a non-dairy version of coffee to find out.
Also your stomach maybe feeling weird due to the acids in coffee, which increases the production of bile. But you need not worry, because drinking caffeine is not linked to causing conditions like irritable bowel syndrome. In fact, it has been shown to decrease your risk of colorectal cancer.
