4 AB Moves You Can Do Standing Upright

Looking to tone your abs, but not sure what exercise works best? Try these core moves while standing upright. These moves were designed by CosmoBody trainer Katia Pryce, a KP Dance Body group fitness instructor, to make you feel sexy and add definition to your abs. Repeat 10 to 15 reps, and complete two to three sets.

1. Standing Crunches: Stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulders-width apart, toes facing forward, and hands on your hips. Engage your abs as you tilt your pelvis forward as if you're trying to bring your belly button to your spine and your hips up to your chest. Then, tilt your pelvis backward to stick out your butt as you bring your shoulders back and chest forward. Return to starting position to complete one rep.

2. Hip Rocks: Stand with your feet facing forward about twice hips-width apart and knees slightly bent. Without lifting your feet, engage your core as you pop your left hip up and to the side. Then release the left hip and pop the right hip. That's one rep.
3. Hip Twist With Pull Down: Stand with your right toes facing forward, and your left toes about two feet from the right foot and pointed out about 45 degrees. Lift your left heel off the ground, bring your right hand to your waist, and engage the muscles in your left arm as you extend it straight up toward the ceiling. Brace your core as you simultaneously drive your left elbow straight down, and tilt your torso forward to lift your left hip. Release your hip and extend your arm to return to starting position. That's one rep. Repeat 10 to 15 times, then switch sides.

4. Window Washers: Shift your weight to your left foot, with your left knee slightly bent. Turn your left toes about 45 degrees out to the side. Point your right toes and place them about one foot in front of your left toes. Lift your right heel and bring it forward so your right knee pops out to the side. With open palms at chest level and arms engaged, reach out to the left. Then, simultaneously sweep both hands across the body to the right side (like you're washing a window) and twist from the toes to turn your right knee in and pop your right hip out. Return to starting position to complete one rep. Repeat 10 to 15 times, then switch sides.
